With the Big Game right around the corner, now is the perfect time to start prepping to host the ultimate football party in your apartment! Hosting a get-together in an apartment can be tricky, but we have a few tips to help you make sure that your football party goes off without a hitch.
The Perfect Gametime Snacks
The most important part of any football game party is the snacks. Some easy snacks you can serve at your football party are chips served along with French onion dip, salsa, guacamole, and queso. If you’re looking to give your guests more of a meal during the game, order some pizza or make some wings or mini burger sliders with French fries on the side.
The best way to ensure your guests always have something to eat and don’t leave hungry is by filling up your coffee table with tons of appetizers that are easy to replenish. Some easy appetizers you can keep on your coffee table are potato chips, a meat and cheese board, and some carrots and celery along with ranch dip. No matter what food you choose to serve, you can rest assured that your guests won’t leave the party hungry.
Add Ample, Comfortable Seating
Another key component of any good football party is making sure you have plenty of comfortable seating options for your guests. When looking around your living room, put yourself in your guests’ shoes and ask yourself, “Would I be comfortable sitting here for three or more hours?” If the answer is no, then it’s time to find some better seating options. An easy way you can add more seats to your living room is by buying large floor pillows and adult-sized bean bag chairs. Not only are these options more affordable, but they’ll also help your guests stay comfortable during the football game!
If you’re looking to spend more money on comfortable seating and have the space, consider investing in a large sectional or even a love seat. Not only will a large sectional and a love seat give your guests plenty of room at your party, but it will also help ensure any future guests you have over are also comfortable.
Make the Perfect Drinks
Now that your guests are well-fed and comfortable, they’re probably thirsty, so it’s time to make them the perfect drinks! A fan’s favorite drink at football games is typically beer or soft drinks, so be sure your guests always have these on hand. Set up a cooler in the living room and keep it stocked with all kinds of beer, soda, and water. By doing this, your guests won’t have to walk to the kitchen when they want a new drink and potentially miss their team scoring a touchdown.
If you’re looking to make something a little fancier for your guests, consider making some Touchdown Punch. To make Touchdown Punch, all you need is some prosecco, sprite, and blue curacao mixed in a pitcher to make the perfect drink to celebrate your favorite team getting a touchdown. Another easy drink you can make that your guests will love is spiked seltzer slushies. To make spiked seltzer slushies, put a can of hard seltzer, some frozen fruit, and ice in a blender. Blend everything together to make a refreshing drink for you and all your guests.
Decorate with Team Decorations
A great way to set the mood for a football party is putting up some decorations! If you and your guests are all cheering for the same team, deck out your apartment with team colours. But if you and your guests are all cheering for different teams, decorate your apartment with both teams’ colors, that way none of your guests will feel left out by rooting for the opposing team. To decorate your apartment, buy some streamers, balloons, and disposable tablecloths to put on your coffee table and kitchen bar or island. Disposable tablecloths will not only help turn your apartment into the ultimate football party location, but they will also help make cleanup easier for you when the game is over.
Parking for guests
Since you live in an apartment, finding parking for your guests might be a challenge. To keep parking from being an issue, ask your guests to carpool or use a ride share app so they don’t have to worry about driving or parking. If your guests will be drinking, they shouldn’t drive after the party anyway. By having your guests order a ride through a ride share app, you’ll know your guests will arrive home safely after enjoying the football game at your place.
For those who will be driving, ask them to park in the guest parking area if your community has one, or if your community only has street parking, tell your guests to park a block or two over so residents will be able to park in front of the building.
What To Do About The Noise Level
When your football team scores touchdowns or gets a first down, your guests could start cheering loudly, which might disturb your neighbors. Remind your guests before the game starts that you live in an apartment, and they need to watch their noise level. If they do get loud, remind them to lower their volume. If someone gets overly rowdy, ask them to leave the party. To minimize the possibility of noise complaints, invite your neighbors to the party or let them know ahead of time that you’re hosting a party so they’re aware of the event.
Make Sure the TV Is Ready
Last but certainly not least, the most important part of any football party is making sure your TV is ready for the game. First, check your TV and make sure it’s at eye level for everyone. If you have some seats that are in the back of your living room, make sure those seats have a clear view of the TV. After you’ve made sure all your guests have a clear view of the TV no matter where they are sitting, make sure you have the channel the game is on. It would be horrible if you turned on the TV on game day and found out you couldn’t watch the game because you didn’t have the channel. If you discover you don’t have the channel, call your TV provider and get the channel on your service so you can be ready for the party.
Finally, if you have windows near the TV, close the blinds or put up curtains to help prevent a glare on the TV from the sun if the game takes place during the day.
Hopefully after reading these tips, you are prepared to host the ultimate football party that you and your guests will be talking about for years to come!
