Who is the most overrated singer of all time? Someone recently asked this in a popular internet forum, and they responded by delivering this list of singers they deemed overrated.
10. Demi Lovato
“Demi Lovato. She has her moments of talent, but she confuses power with high-pitched screaming in many of her songs,” replied one. Another argued, “I love Demi as a singer, but she has one thing that I can’t stand – overuse of auto-tune. It sticks out like a sore thumb on her new album, which would’ve been killer.”
9. Katy Perry
One person stated, “Katy Perry couldn’t hold a note in a bucket without auto-tune.” “She has so little to work with in terms of a singing voice. But I’m impressed with what she’s accomplished with it. Somehow, she made lemonade out of not-so-great lemons,” a second suggested.
“MGK got dissed by Eminem so bad he switched genres. I enjoyed him as a rapper, but singing, not so much,” shared one. “He did a terrible cover of ‘Aerials’ by System of a Down,” a second agreed.
7. Camilla Cabello
“Camilla Cabello. She has excellent range, but her voice is NOT indicative of healthy vocal practices,” suggested one. “I’ve seen her live 3X. Twice with Fifth Harmony and once alone when she opened for Bruno Mars. She is AWFUL to live like I was shocked how bad she was,” another confessed.
“GAYLE, the person who sang ABCEDFU on TikTok. You have nothing against her. The song itself is very overrated, and it seems her career has mainly focused on making as many different remixes and versions of ABCEDFU as possible. It’s also being nominated for a Grammy, which I find surprising, but at least she has a dedicated fan base,” replied another.
“In the 80s, I thought Madonna was excellent, and I still love her early music. But I went to see her in concert, and she was terrible. I think she’s very overrated,” one confessed.
“Madonna is a perfect marketing product and is partly responsible for that herself. She has never been a good singer but sang well-produced tunes from a-list producers. She has been overdue for retirement for over a decade,” another answered.
4. Adam Levine
“Adam Levine. He’s got a range of half an octave. Every song sounds the same because his range is so small and not at all dynamic,” one suggested. Many people argued that the first three Maroon 5 albums were great but that he was not a great guy, which ruined him.
“Beyoncé,” one user expressed. “She does have a good voice, but her music is boring and unoriginal. I don’t understand the near-universal adoration she inspires.” Another agreed, “People worship her, and I don’t understand it.” Finally, a third admitted, “I liked her as part of Destiny’s Child.”
“Drake makes the laziest music I’ve ever heard. He uses a copious amount of auto-tune and somehow still manages to sound out of tune. Like, dude, you have the top producers and tech available to you, and somehow you still settled on an auto-tuned off-key moan that sounds terrible,” suggested one.
1. Jennifer Lopez
A final user shared, “Jennifer Lopez. I recently fell down a rabbit hole and discovered she doesn’t sing many of her songs. Instead, they’re recorded by other people and released under JLO’s name! Ashanti and Christina Millian’s voices are examples.”
